I realized yesterday, that it's been a full summer since I posted anything on my news page, so here we go! I hope you all enjoyed your summers as much as I did. I had great family time, great shows, and still found time to write a song or two. Summer in a northern state always ends up looking like a blur that went by too fast! I was everywhere from Lexington, to Alpena, to Traverse City, to Nashville and back this summer. Sometimes I forget how much fun I had until I scroll through my phone! How about you?
I have some really great shows coming up on my schedule and I hope to see you at some of them. Also, all plans are on go for me to be in the studio with Gary Hannan in November. There will be more details about that in a future blog. Please check back often, as my schedule is updated regularly. Here's a summary of some of the fun things that are about to happen:
I have a show with the Rogues next weekend at the Michigan Open Horse Show Championship at Shiawassee fairgrounds in Corunna, MI on Sept 24. I can't wait to play a show with the full band and be surrounded by horses. If you glanced at the poster on the newsletter, there a nice collage of pictures on it including one of my horse, Red. Those of you that have purchased my latest album "Don't Let Go" knows there's a song on it about my horse entitled "Me & Red." Alan Risher and Brad Rondeau came to my cd release show at the Ark, and they loved the song! Alan thought it would be a great idea to have us share the song with his horse community at this show.
Take a listen here if you'd like to hear the song: Me & Red
I'm honored to perform at the 3rd Annual Island Hopper Festival in Fort Myers Beach, Florida from Sept 30-Oct 2! This festival will have some songwriter greats on the schedule! I hope my friends in the area will come out and meet up with me! I have several performances with Gary Hannan and all details are on my "Shows" page.
In mid October, I'll be off to the opposite end of the U.S. for the Mackinac Island Songwriter Workshop from Oct 13-16. I love this workshop and it will be my third year as an instructor. The best
thing about this workshop is how interactive it is. It's designed for songwriters of all genres and experience levels. It's also a great way to meet other songwriters and collaborate. Mackinac Island is a jewel to behold in the fall, so why not treat yourself? Here's a clip from last year's workshop: MISW
